Quenching The Thirst – The Quest For Life Extension

January 25th, 2012 by

One of the most quizzical characteristics of mankind is his incapacity for satisfaction or
contentment. It does not matter what you give to a man – even if he does express
substantial gratitude at that first instance – he is bound to want more of it before very
long. The worst part about this desire is that man would stop at more or less nothing to
get what he wants… at least, some men.

Life is full of activity, failures and achievements; and one would have thought that after
all the pain that one experiences in this life, even despite the occasional joys, man would
look forward eagerly to getting out and moving on to the great beyond. And indeed there
are a lot of people who subscribe to this philosophy.

However, many people think that this does not have to be so. Somehow or the other, man
still looks forward to more achievements in an oblivious future, or at least a life in which
he can kick back and enjoy all that he has worked for all his life, with children and
grandchildren gathered all around him; a dream, but one that is well worth having.

And so man goes on this interminable quest to conquer death. The quest is called
interminable because it is a fight that never ends. It has raged for centuries, from the
times when man thought that the longevity of gold as a substance would suffice to
prolong the lives of those who were covered by it, to this day where various researches
have shown that there are easier and less expensive ways to make a man live longer.

The quest is call anti aging and life extension. They are processes wherein a person
administers various curative measures to his mind and body, and then gets to live a lot
longer, or at least he does not seem to grow old even as age comes upon him.

We are not there yet, but success is close; and yes, we have all caught the flame and
everyone is waiting impatiently for the final outcome that will prove once and for all that
man can live forever.
